Windows 3.x with Trumpet Winsock
There are a few things that you will need to know about your computer before attempting an installation of Trumpet Winsock dialer for Windows 3.x.
1.In the File menu of your trumpet winsock (tcpman.exe), go to ppp options, and turn ON
pap (password authentication protocol) switch.
2.Insert your HOST NAME in the username field (usually your isp's name i.e.
tiny-planet.com)
3.Insert your password in the password field.
4.Press okay
5.Go to Setup (also in your File menu).
6.Insert 0.0.0.0 into the IP address field.
7.Into the Name Server field, insert your primary DNS .. your secondary DNS ..
8.Uncheck the internal PPP radio button
9.Insert 255.255.255.0 into the NetMask field.
10.Check ON the internal ppp radio button.
11.Set your slip port according to your modem port
12.Set your baud rate according to your modem
13.Set "Hardware Handshake" On
14.Set "Van Jacobson CSLIP Compression" On, (Not applicable for most ISP's, but
it won't hurt to do it)
15.Select "DCD (RLSD) check" in the "Online Status Detection" section.
16.Restart the trumpet winsock.
17.If you get the "cannot load tcp" error, turn off the machine, let it sit for
a minute, and restart.
